I didn’t know what to expect when
I finally got to meet Cairo. I was really
excited when Mom and Dad opened the door and let
him out, because we were having a lot of fun
just playing footsies under the door when he
lived in a separate room. I couldn’t wait to
play with him, and I did – but I had to play
pretty gently because he was kind of frail at
first, and smaller than me.
But as much as I wanted to play
with him, I also found myself wanting to take
care of him, just like Tiger Lily did with me
when I first got here. Sometimes he’ll jump up
on the chair with me and try to get me to play,
but instead I’ll hold him down and lick him all
over. Somebody has to teach him all this stuff,
and I guess it’s me! I thought I was just a
wild and carefree little girl, but suddenly I
feel a little bit like a mom. I really love
Cairo – both of us were rescued just in the nick
of time, and now we get to live here together as
best pals. He was less than two pounds when he
first came here, and now he’s over seven pounds
– he’s not a tiny little kitten any more. I’ve
been really busy showing him the rest of the
house. We have lots of fun chasing around and
playing all kinds of games together, I’ll tell
you about that next time.
