Ian got his start in life like many cats
– someone found a bunch of kittens and
desperately asked around to find someone, anyone,
to take them in and take care of them. In Ian’s
case, that someone was Shadow Cats. Ian had a
chronic eye infection; certainly not life
threatening, but enough to require regular
care/treatment and cut down on his chances for
adoption. At the sanctuary, though, a few little
“special needs” are no problem at all – they’re
our specialty!
Appearances can be deceiving -
despite his upper fangs often sticking out
beyond his lip just a bit, Ian is the proverbial
“nice guy”. He’s quiet, and while not
really skittish or shy, he does tend to keep to
himself. In the Uptown section he gets along
just fine with most of the other cats. Roscoe
suddenly decided one day, after living together
for years, that he needed to attack Ian whenever
he saw him. So Ian went to live in Nana's
Corner for a few months, but eventually Roscoe
got over that and now Ian is happily back on the
Uptown porch, enjoying the sights and sounds of
the garden out back
and watching all the action along the creek that
runs right behind the sanctuary.
Much of the time we’ll see him curled up in a
cozy bed…Ian is a master at finding a good
comfortable spot and taking full advantage of
it. But when a volunteer gets out a wand
toy to play with, Ian is usually one of the first
cats who come running to chase it. And if
there's a game or some excitement going on with
the other cats on the Uptown porch, Ian is quick
to run check it out and join in. While
he’s not really a lap cat, he does appreciate
and enjoy being petted – he’s a versatile,
all-around guy!
