Oh Bruce, what is not to love about this big guy! Bruce comes to us from a colony outside of San Antonio. He was trapped to be TNR’d but it was discovered he had FIV and Heartworms. It also turned out Bruce was just a big ole lovebug! He also had some large wounds on his face from an indeterminate source. Bruce was no longer a good candidate to be released due to his health issues, and because of his great temperament, he made his way to us! As of April 2023, Bruce calls Oasis his home.
His face has healed up nicely and we are treating his Heartworms. Unfortunately, there is no cure like in dogs but we can help to prevent the growth of the worms and it is possible over time that he may no longer have the worms. But for now, we will continue treatment to keep Bruce happy and healthy!
Big man Bruce is most content lounging on the couch in the living room of Oasis, but if not there he also enjoys playing in the greater area of the Sanctuary. He is often found laying in the cat tree by the front door saying hi as everyone comes in. Bruce may go down in Shadow Cat’s history as being the easiest cat to acclimate. After his quarantine period, he just waltzed right out into Oasis and he was right at home. No growls, no hiding, just a happy cat!
