Alina came from a rescue situation in 2012 with her kittens, Sophie and Nico. They all immediately found adoptive homes in the Shadow Cats family – Sophie and Nico with sponsors who fell in love with them, and Alina with a sanctuary volunteer. Alina is gorgeous and charming, but she had one little problem right from the beginning – she peed outside the litter box. This is something that’s really hard for any guardian to deal with, but Alina’s mom was patient and tried everything under the sun. The problem only worsened with time, though; as her household grew, it became an even bigger issue.
Finally, Alina’s mom decided to try bringing her back to the sanctuary to see how she would do here. Alina has always been a climber, is very adventurous, and wants to explore everything. She was quick to explore the highest perches, but also quick to discover the joys of a cozy perch on a cat tree in a sunbeam on the catio. Alina is very social too – of course, quick to jump up and make sure our volunteers see her and pick her up when they come into the room. As for her litter box issues – well, since moving to the new sanctuary, Alina seems to have left that aspect of herself behind!
