Shadow Cats invites you to join us on Saturday, June 22nd, for a disco-themed evening celebrating our 27th year of life-saving work. This year’s event, Men in Rescue, will include dinner, live music, a silent auction, and much, much more. The evening’s proceeds will support the Sanctuary, where special needs cats receive lifetime compassionate care, and also our work to improve the lives of community cats.

We have five terrific guests scheduled, all Men in Rescue – Sterling “TrapKing” Davis, Nathan Kehn the Cat Lady, Drennon Davis, Bob Lynch Cowboy Cat Wrangler and iAmMoshow!

This special evening will be held at the Austin Marriott North, 2600 La Frontera Blvd, Round Rock, TX  78681.

The dress code for this event is flexible – anything from casual to formal. In past events, many people wore business casual or cocktail attire, but we were also delighted to see attendees wearing their sparklies!

Sterling “TrapKing” Davis

Sterling “TrapKing” Davis is a well-traveled, ex-military, music, and cat enthusiast who has always loved entertaining and interacting with people. Since childhood, he was also the only guy in the neighborhood that loved cats. One day, while taking a break from the rap group he was performing with, Sterling saw a posting for a job cleaning litter boxes at his local shelter. He needed something to do to pass the time so he applied for the job.

He started cleaning litter boxes and loved working with cats so much, that he was promoted to an outreach position where he could focus on trap-neuter-return (TR), the only way to humanely control cat overpopulation. It was at that point he decided to give up his successful music career and focus on his passion for cats.

In 2017, he started his own nonprofit, TrapKing Humane Cat Solutions, where he focuses on educating, assisting, and doing TNR and community cat management. Davis’ mission is to change the stereotypes of not only men in cat rescue, but also bridge the gap in communication between black communities and predominantly white animal welfare organizations. He lives and breathes his motto, you don’t lose cool points for compassion.

Today Davis is a sought-after speaker all over the world, speaking at events like Cat Con, Cat Camp, Meow DC, and fundraising events for small rescues and shelters across the United States. Sterling hopes to one day travel the country in a recreational vehicle, teaching animal advocates in communities of all sizes how to care for their community cats.

Nathan Kehn the Cat Lady

Nathan’s journey into cat advocacy began as a pursuit to connect with a broader audience on social media. His Instagram account, initially a platform for quirky skits, took an unexpected turn when he incorporated his beloved cats into the content. The response was nothing short of remarkable. As the Cat Lady persona emerged, Nathan realized the incredible power of his influence in raising awareness for cats in need.

Beyond the realm of entertainment, Nathan actively engages in cat advocacy works. Additionally, Nathan has played a pivotal role in founding “Nathan’s Fosters,” a heartwarming initiative in partnership with the Los Angeles-based nonprofit Stray Cat Alliance. This program aims to provide temporary homes and love to cats awaiting their forever families.

Nathan’s impact goes beyond the virtual world, extending into tangible efforts that make a difference in the lives of cats. Through his advocacy, he invites others to join him on this compassionate journey, transforming his love for cats into meaningful actions that contribute to feline welfare.

Drennon Davis

From his elaborate characters and sketches to his provocative songs, puppets, and animation, Drennon has made a name for himself as one of the most innovative minds in today’s comedy scene. His live performances, whether solo or collaboration, combine live music and beat-boxing with one-man sketches into a show that the Los Angeles Comedy Bureau writes “not only lives up to its name, but exceeds expectation in what you could possibly think it is.”

Drennon performed twice on TBS’s Conan, and has previously appeared on Comedy Central’s Adam Devine’s House Party and The Meltdown, NBC’s Last Call, Viceland’s Flophouse, Seeso’s Guest List, and was a semifinalist on Last Comic Standing.  He can be seen on the NBC comedy, “Bring The Funny” and his animated show The Long Legs can be seen on MTV’s rebirth of Liquid Television. He’s also the winner of the International Academy of Web Television award for best original music in 2017 for his work on Epic Studios with Lloyd Alquist of Epic Rap Battles of History.

Drennon was featured in LA Weekly’s Top 10 Comedy Acts to Watch in 2014 and 2015 Best Comedy Duo (with Karen Kilgariff), as well as Splitsider’s Top 10 Up & Coming Acts in LA in 2015. Drennon is a recurring presence at music and comedy festivals all over the world including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, SXSW, Riot LA Alternative Comedy Festival, Bonnaroo, Bridgetown Comedy Festival, Outside Lands, the Oddball Comedy Festival and many more.

Moshow
