Molly

In Memory of Molly       8/2/2016 – 7/18/2022

Molly has always been a bit of an enigma to us. She came to us from AAC back in 2017, at one year old, but not much was known about her history. Once here she tended to keep to herself but never shied away from attention if offered. Molly’s favorite places to be were either outside in the sun or on someone’s shoulder. She quickly earned many nicknames such as squirrel due to her climbing hijinks. Doing morning rounds with Molly on your shoulder was a common and much loved occurrence for the staff.

This girl will always be one of the most interestingly beautiful cats to have graced the catios of Shadow Cats – part tabby, part calico, and with the biggest most stunning eyes you have ever seen. Just one look from her and you would fall in love. She was always petite, one of the smaller cats in Cookie’s Place, but that did not hold her back. She strutted through the rooms with aloof confidence.

When morning feeding time came around Molly was always first in line. Her favorite waiting spot was on top of a tall thin scratching post. She looked like a statue, or a lookout atop a crow’s nest on a boat. It was like she was there to give everyone the alarm “food is coming!”

Molly has and will always be a favorite of the staff here at Shadow Cats. Now we try not to have favorites but just one cuddle from Molly and you would understand why she is the exception. As she curled into your arms you could feel her purr reverberate and just see the love and warmth in her face. Molly snuggles were truly special.

About a month ago Molly was diagnosed with early stage kidney disease. We were hopeful it was just exacerbated by an infection and the leukemia and that she would bounce back quickly. Unfortunately, it was all too much for her little body. Over the last few days, Molly has let us know that it was her time and she is ready to move on. She passed away peacefully in the arms of those who cared for her and loved her deeply. Molly’s life may not have been long but we know for sure it was a life filled with love.

Our thanks always to our loving, caring staff, our devoted volunteers, and the veterinary care Molly received at Sam Bass Wellness. Thank you for the love and support from her sponsors.
