Tabitha, born in 2003, began life as a community cat at one of our colonies. She was trapped, socialized and soon adopted. She remained in her new home until one of her guardians passed and she was returned to Shadow Cats. For the last six years, Tabitha has lived well, sunning herself in the morning rays and basking in all of the affection and love the volunteers and Nannies could give her. She was extremely happy when anyone gave her chicken bits and she hovered over any missed pieces from the other cats. Nothing got by her! Tabitha was a gentle and shy girl, but given attention and love, she often found her way to sit close to you to get her coat brushed and her chin scratched.

Tabitha has been struggling with chronic renal insufficiency for several years and finally reached a point where more treatments, more fluids and more intervention would no longer be a kindness. With her beautiful eyes and her sweet nature, she assured us she has had enough, she is ready to leave us.

Today, surrounded by loving hearts, we have honored that unspoken request and held her close as she crossed over.  Thank you to all the sponsors, volunteers and nannies that made her life so much better.   Rest easy Tabitha – you are loved.

Eeyore’s Birthday Party 2017

eeyore-2016

Friends of the Forest Foundation, also known as Eeyore’s Birthday Party, was held this year on April 29th. Voted Austin’s Best Annual Party for 10 years straight, proceeds from the event are dispersed throughout the community to a variety of charities. Shadow Cats has been chosen as a recipient this year and we are thrilled to have been chosen! The funds donated will be used to help cats in the community and here at the Sanctuary. Our mission to impact ill, injured and community cats will be furthered by this act of generosity by the Friends of the Forest Foundation.

Next years party is set for April 28th at Pease Park in Austin. For more info email eeyores.org.

Thank you!

In Memory of Delilah    08/27/02 – 10/24/16

delilah-a-lgDelilah came to us as an adult many years ago and while she never found her own adoptive home, she settled in well at Shadow Cats.  With all the black cats here, she distinguished herself with her single white whisker- not to mention she was one of the sweetest personalities in the Uptown area.  She welcomed many new residents at Shadow Cats over the years.  She occupied laps and enjoyed time with volunteers and staff.

However, the effects of her early years began to take their toll.  Her renal function began to deteriorate significantly last year and today she left us.

Delilah was surrounded by so much love as she passed peacefully today.  She was held and stroked and told how much she was loved.  She passed in complete peace.

Thank you to all that loved and cared about Delilah and all the cats here. Thank you to her sponsors, her kitty nannies and all the volunteers that have loved her  and all the cats over the years.  You each make their lives better.  Delilah is at peace now, no pain, no discomfort.  Rest easy precious girl- only love and light.

“I chose Delilah because she has the same look as my Jesse who died Sept. 18, 2014.  I know the sex is different but Jesse had that same attitude…”
