In memory of Banjo 3/26/22-07/14/26
Coming from Grand Prairie, Banjo was a community cat for several years until one day he showed up sick and in need of help. He had a terrible upper respiratory infection, and while he was receiving diagnostics and treatment, it was discovered that he was positive for feline leukemia. After tirelessly looking for a permanent landing spot for this boy after he recovered, his rescuer found Shadow Cats.
He was very shy when he first arrived, but once he was introduced to his new room – Cookie’s Cove – he just blossomed. He was the sweetest and most gentle cat, and made friends with everyone. He even won over Clementine, who we have learned does not like new kitty friends! He became best friends with Dorian; they would hang out next to each other and even play. Even before Banjo was let out into the room, Dorian would hang out by his condo and they would boop noses to say hi throughout the day.
Banjo wasn’t one to seek out attention, but if you were giving it, he would soak it up. When he was most content, he would make the best biscuits and lean into your head like there wasn’t anything better.
Unfortunately, Banjo became sick very quickly. What started as only a fever turned into severe pneumonia and end-stage leukemia extremely quickly, which we’ve seen all too often with our FeLV+ kitties. We gave him the best care we could, but ultimately his body just couldn’t fight it.
Banjo wasn’t with us very long; in fact, we just recently posted his introduction here. While he didn’t have a long time with us, he did have a great time. He was safe, loved, and happy, at least for a little while.
