Daniel

In Memory of Daniel         2/4/2006 – 12/23/2020

Daniel crossed the Rainbow Bridge today, gently and very peacefully surrounded by those that love him. During his last day with us, we shared many stories with him as he sat in the lap of one of the kitty nannies and also cuddled with his bestie Jack. We talked to him about his life and the stories he will be able to tell all his buddies that have gone before him when he sees them. His life has been full, and luck has been on his side, Born in New Mexico, he ended up in a rescue shelter where he was very well cared for, but that shelter had to reduce its capacity and find homes for some of its residents. We were contacted by a long-time friend and fellow rescuer and Daniel made the journey to come to the sanctuary and live with us.

A very sweet and handsome boy, when you met Daniel you just fell in love with him, and someone did fall in love with him so he was adopted out from Shadow Cats.

Once a Shadow Cat, always a Shadow Cat, these are words we live by.

Daniel came back to us after a while and we welcomed him. We told him he deserves the best in life and that he would forever be safe back in our arms. Luck had been on his side!  Daniel settled back into life at the sanctuary. He was a little more shy when he returned, so we gave him lots of TLC  and gradually he became one of our best lap kitties. He loved to sit in your lap – whenever you walked in the room, he would appear at your feet just waiting for you to sit down so he could be in your lap, and if you happened to have treats or chicken, you were the best!  Well, actually Daniel just loved to eat. We think he could hear a can of food open from miles away 😊 And that little pink tongue, so many pictures of him with that cute little tongue sticking out, so sweet!

Daniel has struggled with many health issues and through all the treatments and medication he has been a champ. Over the last days, Daniel told us he was tired, his fight had gone and it was soon his time, He had to leave. Among other things, probable lymphoma also taking its toll.

His last days have been spent doing the things he loved – cuddling with his buddies, eating chicken and lots of treats, being outside on the catio in the sun, and sitting in as many of our volunteers’ laps as he could. So if luck was on your side, Daniel, luck was truly on our side because we had the gift of knowing and loving you.

Farewell, our sweet gentle soul, our Danny Boy. You take with you a piece of our hearts. You were so loved by everyone at the sanctuary and beyond. We know you left us knowing just how special you were. We will never forget you. You gave us so many wonderful memories to keep in our hearts.

Rest easy, Daniel. Skip across the bridge, free of all your suffering in this world.

Our thanks to our staff, volunteers, and his sponsors. Also thanks to Dr’s Murphy and Murdock and all at Sam Bass Wellness. Daniel was loved by many near and far. Thank you, friends.
