Darby 2

In Memory of Darby 2    5/5/2006 – 8/9/2017

Everyone can remember a girl from high school who was a little wild, did some foolish things, and then got stuck with a bad reputation even after she had changed her ways. Well, Darby is that girl. Years ago, she just happened to bite a couple of hands – nothing too serious – but she got the unfortunate label of “biter”.

Time had mellowed this precious girl. With all the attention and lap time she received, she became less reactive and more loving. While we always watched for ‘those’ moments, she  generally enjoyed nothing more than a lap, a few rays of sunshine and kibble when she was hungry. Safe, full tummy and lots of love – who could want for more?

A few months ago she was diagnosed with an inoperable abdominal mass and it was only recently that she began to show signs of discomfort and the effects of the cancer.  Today she let us know it was her time and just a short while ago she left us held in loving arms. Her caregivers, our kitty nannies, held her as she gently crossed over.

Thank you to her sponsors who cared and supported her from afar, to our volunteers who stayed on her good side and provided so many laps and to our kitty nannies who loved and managed her care and made even her less stellar days comfortable. Darby is at peace. She lived a good life – her best life – and we will never forget our little Darby.
