Amazing Grace was a seven year old rescue from a vet who actually put her to sleep, came back from lunch and found her sitting up. He was not going to put her down again. She came at the age of seven to live with me nine years.

Dec 3, 2008 … Our circle of friends has become smaller today with the loss of fellow rescuer, Courtney Dickson. Courtney leaves behind a young son and husband, loving family and many friends. I first met Courtney in 2004 when she contacted Shadow Cats about the cats in her neighborhood. I went to her home and she showed me a number of cats that looked to be pregnant and completely wild. We talked at length and then spent the next several months trapping and sterilizing the cats and getting things under control. She was so happy to know about TNR and happier still to know that she was making a positive impact on the lives of homeless cats. She continued to the end of her life to support feral and homeless cat issues. She found many a home for kittens born to feral and outdoor cats and helped to stop the cycle of reproduction through spay and neuter and humane education. She was a vibrant, compassionate and outgoing person who did not know the meaning of looking away or turning her back on anyone or anything in need. I look back tonight at a letter Courtney wrote several years ago to me and her words sum up her devotion to the animals. “…It is too easy these days to look the other way and pretend it is someone else’s problem, but thank goodness some people stand up and do the right thing Courtney, you spent a lifetime doing the “right thing” and we will all miss you and never forget you. http://www.novareinna.com/bridge/rescuerain.html

I wanted to thank you and Angela and Mindy for trapping the kitty that had been hanging around The Conservatory for the past year. My mom has watched the cats get pregnant, the kittens come around when starving and then they disappear one by one. Angela and Mindy trapped one remaining kitty after two separate tries. She was pregnant with six kittens which were never born ( a blessing). She was spayed and is back in her home where ever that is by The Conservatory. There are more cats and I think they are trying to get a male cat and get him neutered. Hopefully this year will not be a year to watch the kittens look so skinny and then disappear. Thank you so much for the great work that you do.
