Want to make a difference in the lives of cats? Consider giving your time to the most unique feline sanctuary in central Texas! We are always looking for cat-loving volunteers willing to give a minimum of two hours per week and make a long-term commitment to support our mission of improving the lives of abused, abandoned, feral, stray, and injured cats.
Shadow Cats has a variety of needs including Sanctuary volunteers, trappers, fundraisers, and office/admin work. If you would like to be a part of this amazing organization, please complete the volunteer application and let us know your area of interest.
Volunteer Opportunities!!
Cat Caregiver
Volunteers work directly with our cats to help increase or maintain “adoptability.” Help reduce stress, offer enrichment, and aid in training. Volunteers may perform a wide variety of tasks, such as cleaning cat cages and litter boxes, dishwashing, and laundry chores. You must be 18 years or older to participate in this type of work.
Administrative/Data Entry
Volunteers with administrative skills may assist with a variety of administrative duties or projects. Some may be a work from home project.
Cat-Vocates
Volunteers have opportunities to help at outreach events, including informational table displays. Educational materials will be provided by Shadow Cats. Any additional display items or handout material must be approved prior to the event.
Committee Member/Events/Fundraising
You may wish to join committees for fundraising events and participate in the preparation and planning, as well as volunteering the day of the event. Committees include fundraising, food bank, coin bank, and other monthly or annual projects.
Docents
Help welcome visitors to Shadow Cats, give tours, and assist visitors. Works hand in hand with Volunteer Coordinator.
Volunteer Assistant
This volunteer will be tech and computer savvy, work well with other volunteers and staff, reliable, and professional. If you are interested in putting your Microsoft Excel, Word, or other skills to good use, this is the position for you.
Newsletter Editor
Volunteer needed to compose/edit newsletters.
Content Writer
Volunteer needed to write website/newsletter content
Transporter
Volunteers with reliable transportation and insurance may assist in transporting cats and kittens to Shadow Cats from a variety of points. Also need transporters to pick up food deliveries in mid-Austin and deliver to Shadow Cats weekly- takes about 3 hours.
Media
Professional and amateur videographers are welcomed to use their talents to capture our cats on film to be used for marketing and other promotions.
Grant Writers
Individuals interested in writing grants for Shadow Cats are needed.
Grounds Keeper
Volunteers needed to keep the Sanctuary grounds cleared and cared for.
Contractor/Builder
Volunteers needed for maintenance and small building projects.
Trappers
Committed individuals to participate in our Trap, Neuter, and Return program.
