In Memory of Harry Pawter 5/4/2019 – 7/1/2022
A very handsome boy came to us from Kerrville, Texas. He was living with a foster mom until he could find his forever home. As we know, sometimes it’s not that easy for kitties with leukemia, but luck was on this kitty’s side. We had space and he arrived at Shadow Cats, his new home.
This boy was so handsome and his markings were so striking! Of course we could see why, with that amazing lightning bolt of white fur on his forehead, he deserved a name reflecting the title of the famous books, so Harry Pawter he was named! Because he was so special, some kitties just have to be called by their full name, and that was Harry P – we always called him Harry Pawter.
A more lovable friendly kitty you could not meet. Harry Pawter became one of the gang in Cookie’s Place in no time. He had many buddies right from the start, and it seemed as though they would all gather round as he was telling stories about his life before Shadow Cats, how he had been rescued, and how lucky he was to be part of the FeLV club in Cookie’s Place.
Harry Pawter, although he was the friendliest boy, was a quiet kitty. He did like laps and the occasional cuddles but did not seek them out as some do. We were so happy when he would love on us but mostly he wanted to be where there were things he could watch. He could always be found outside on the catios, on a high shelf, soaking up the sun and watching all the action at the bird feeders and the antics of the squirrels. He loved to eat and he was another member of the chicken gang of Shadow Cats – when boiled chicken was offered, Harry Pawter was right there front and center. Naps, yes, naps were a big favorite of his, especially in a sunbeam!
Over the past couple of weeks, the effects of leukemia had reared their ugly head and our handsome boy with the lightning bolt was declining. Harry Pawter received the best care from all at the sanctuary and from our amazing veterinary support. A little while ago Harry Pawter had breathing difficulties and the always difficult decision had to be made, our final gift to our precious cats, a peaceful passing, cradled in loving caring arms, gentle whispers of love in their ears.
Harry Pawter, you dashing handsome boy, we will miss you. We wished you had lived many more years enjoying the catios, where you loved to be, but we are so grateful you were with us and we had you in our lives. We just hoped it would be longer. Harry Pawter was just over 3 years old.
Rest easy, precious Harry Pawter. You were one awesome kitty.
Our thanks always to our loving, caring staff, our volunteers, and the veterinary care he received at Sam Bass Wellness. Thank you for the love and support from his sponsors.
