In Memory of Ian 3/15/2007 – 12/12/2017
Ian was part of a group of kittens we called the Eye Kittens – they all had eye issues. Rescued many years ago, each of those kittens were given names that started with the letter “I”.
Ian was adopted at an early age along with his sister Indigo. He was returned to Shadow Cats several years later, after his sister passed, and he has been a Sanctuary resident ever since. His only remaining sister, Iris, lives as a clinic cat at Central Texas Cat Hospital.
Ian was always the ‘kitty that got along’. He was kitty friends with everyone, cats and people alike, and he never met a lap he didn’t love. He loved visitors and welcomed everyone, following people around waiting for them to see him and give him love and pets. Ian was a member of the Chicken Gang – ready and waiting for that chicken to be served. And this handsome boy really enjoyed sticking his entire head in a yogurt cup to get the last lick. Well, almost the last lick. Some was stuck to his face and ears and he needed help getting cleaned up. He was loved by all who met him. He lived his best life, sweet, loving and happy.
Ian began to struggle a bit last year. He was diagnosed with probable lymphoma and took a sudden turn. Despite efforts to help him, he passed peacefully this morning in the arms of his kitty nannies. We promise each cat here their best life, which includes the promise that there will be no suffering. His transition came surrounded by loving hands, kind words and open hearts for this sweetest of cats.
Thank you to his caregivers and volunteers, his sponsors who supported his daily care, and to all that loved him from afar.
