In Memory of Sassy 05/2/1999 – 04/25/2017
Our precious Sassy crossed over this morning from renal issues. Just a few days shy of her 18th birthday, Sassy had a special place in our hearts. Trapped as a tiny kitten, she never found her own home (mainly because of her catitude) but as the years passed, she settled in nicely and the Sanctuary became her home. She mellowed and became a devoted lapcat.
A favorite memory was chasing her down in the woods – she of only a pound and a half – and cornering her at the base of a tree. I picked her up with gloved hands and put her in the carrier. She splayed out on all fours with her belly touching the carrier floor, looking up at me and hissed these wee hisses. She’s been with us at the beginning of her life and she is leaving us wrapped in loving arms at the end.
Thank you to her sponsors Leslie Levitt, Rebecca McManamy and Kris Safatinos. She was also my sponsor kitty. Thank you to our volunteers and our kitty nannies for helping to give her such a full and loving life. Rest easy, angel girl.
