In Memory of Turbo 9/2/2014 – 1/29/2018
Sometimes a cat comes into your life that brings so much joy and exuberance. Turbo was that cat. When this tiny dynamo of a kitten came to Shadow Cats we knew instantly why he’d been given the name he had. He was a little whirling dervish, never sitting still. Feline leukemia did not stop him.
His kitten energy gave way over the years to alpha dominance but he always did so in a (mostly) benevolent way. He ruled over Cookie’s Place along with Punkin’ and Morris, but did it in a way that never seemed unduly harsh. The other cats deferred to him and that was enough for Turbo.
Over the years Turbo became ill twice but both times managed to fight it off and return to his magnificent state of health. He was a gorgeous cat – big, bold and beautiful.
Just recently he began to exhibit symptoms and our veterinarian found significant liver issues and probable lymphoma. We supported and treated him aggressively but in the end, this last time, we would not win the battle.
Turbo passed early this morning. His passing leaves a huge hole in Cookie’s Place where he played, chased, ran and lived his best life. Our hearts are broken and we thank all that loved and cared for him from afar – his initial rescuer, his sponsors and volunteers and the kitty nannies who cared for him each day. The only way we can manage the loss is to focus on his life and to know that Turbo’s journey at Shadow Cats was a full one and that we all made a difference for him.
Rest in peace, precious boy.

“I fostered Turbo from 4 weeks until Shadow Cats took him. I love this little guy and miss him terribly but we have other kitties and could not keep him because of his leukemia. We named him Turbo and anyone who meets him will understand why!”

“Turbo is just such a sweet little guy, and we are proud to be part of his journey. Many prayers for you little one. God Bless.”
