Tuxie

In Memory of Tuxie    10/25/03 – 02/16/17

In the Spring of 2004, a striking young tuxedo cat stood watch over his colony. Tall and strong, he reigned supreme as the Top Tux. It just so happened that is when Shadow Cats discovered this un-managed colony of 100+ cats at a local church and put his dreams of unregulated breeding to rest.

Tuxie was trapped and, due to unexpected issues, came to Shadow Cats. He lived his life in the Outback and Downtown areas. His BFF was Pretty Boy and in later years he was often found curled up with another bestie, most often Poptart. He loved his chicken treats. He would delicately take home-cooked chicken from the hands of our volunteers and always stayed close by ‘just in case’ there was a second helping offered. Even though he was suffering from renal disease, he always managed to show up during treat time.

Tuxie passed gently just a bit ago with loving hearts in attendance. His crossing marks the beginning of the end of an era – those cats trapped from so many years ago in Shadow Cats infancy. He lived large, he lived well and his time with us will always be remembered. Rest easy sweet boy, you left your mark on all our hearts.

“Tuxie is always first in line for chicken.  What a thrill it was for me the first time this feral guy accepted my chicken offering from my hand.”
